USE OF EXTRAORAL PHOTOBIOMODULATION IN THE MANAGEMENT OF ORAL MUCOSITIS: SYSTEMATIC LITERATURE REVIEW

Introdução: A mucosite oral (MO) é um efeito adverso em pacientes oncológicos e a fotobiomodulação (FBM) melhora a qualidade de vida desses pacientes por meio do manejo da MO. Objetivo: Avaliar os efeitos da FBM extraoral na prevenção e/ou tratamento da MO em pacientes oncológicos. Material e métodos: Esta revisão sistemática foi registrada no PROSPERO, seguindo as diretrizes PRISMA . Foram consultados PubMed, Scopus, Science Direct, LILACS, CAPES , BVS e Google Acadêmico, e utilizadas palavras-chave do DeCS / MeSH . O risco de viés foi analisado utilizando RoB2. Resultados: Foram identificados 593 estudos e selecionados dois artigos. Foram incluídos 115 pacientes, e a FBM extraoral promove ação preventiva e terapêutica na MO, reduz a dor e é bem tolerada. Ao comparar a FBM intraoral e extraoral, ambas obtiveram resultados semelhantes; além disso, a FBM extraoral exigiu um tempo de aplicação menor. Conclusão: O PBM extraoral previne a OM tratada/ed e otimiza o tempo de aplicação em pacientes oncológicos.
